Choose the timing result

These keys act when an editing surface owns focus. They remain letters while you type. Mobile source controls use Append, Insert, Overwrite, and Connect buttons; the same four letter bindings are implemented for a connected keyboard.
Prepare source and destination
- Select the source in the browser and mark In/Out in Source.
- Read the range: source Out is exclusive.
- Choose picture, audio, or both in Source patching.
- Inspect the selected sequence, sequence playhead or destination marks, and picture/audio target tracks.
- Check track locks and linked-selection state before running the operation.
For silent B-roll over dialogue, turn off the source-audio component and choose an appropriate picture track. For a new story beat that should extend the film, use Insert rather than replacing an established interval.
Inspect the result at both ends
Play across the beginning and ending of the placed range. For Insert, check downstream material that moved. For Overwrite, check replaced audio and overlays as well as picture. For Connect, inspect the track relationship and any overlap with existing layers.
Use Undo if the timing result is wrong, then correct the range or target before trying again. Do not repeatedly press a placement key when the app reports unsuitable source bounds, missing media, locked tracks, or a pending save adjustment. The error explains which input needs attention.
Replace an existing clip deliberately
Clip → Replace Clip Source… is a separate replacement workflow for a selected timeline clip. A new browser source does not automatically replace every use of an older library identity. Review the replacement interval, timing, linked sound, and every affected boundary after applying it.
