Three placement behaviors

These shortcuts apply with an editing surface focused. They remain punctuation or letters in a text field.
Check the inputs
Mark the source range, select the intended sequence, and inspect the playhead or destination marks. Review Source patching and the destination track state when picture and sound need different destinations.
A placement can be refused when the required source range, target, or available material is unsuitable. Read the explanation instead of repeatedly pressing the shortcut.
Review both boundaries
After placement, play across the beginning and end. For an insert, check material that moved later. For an overwrite, check what was replaced and whether it removed sound or a transition you wanted to keep.
Undo if the operation was not the intended one, then fix the source or destination setup before trying again.
