Decide what you are sending
A movie is the finished picture and sound. A subtitle sidecar supplies separate text and timing. A portable project supplies an editable handoff with media. Use Share Portable Project for continued editing; Deliver is for creating output files.
New movie, queued, version, audio/stem, subtitle, and interchange exports require active export access on iOS. Saving and backing up editable projects remain available. Existing completed files can still be retrieved when access ends. See subscription access.
Configure the movie
- Choose Deliver, or tap the editor header’s Export button.
- Enter Filename and choose Format. H.264 is a practical first compatibility choice.
- Review Resolution, Include sequence audio mix, and caption controls.
- Open Advanced Encoding and Caption Delivery when you need the saved delivery specification.
- Read Settings preview, including canvas, rate, range, audio, captions, and source policy.
- Use Refresh Preflight after changing settings or media availability.
Device and media checks are advisory. “Codec settings accepted” does not establish that a physical device can complete every resolution, frame rate, ProRes, or alpha combination. Test the chosen settings on the device that will deliver the film. If a codec is unavailable, choose another format or finish on a suitably verified Mac.
Current declared output is SDR Rec. 709. A wide-gamut or HDR recording and a codec name do not establish HDR output or the same appearance as Apple Photos.
Choose captions explicitly
Burn in visible caption tracks draws text permanently into the movie when no active advanced caption specification overrides it. For a simple separate subtitle, select Subtitle sidecar track and choose Export SRT Sidecar.
Advanced caption delivery can choose a clean movie with sidecars or one language burned into the picture. Sidecar mode can deliver one file per chosen language. Verify both language identity and the actual cue text. Files must use the final movie stem and travel together when the destination needs sidecars.
Run now or queue a captured revision
Tap Export Movie for direct output. The app shows progress and Cancel Export. It captures the project and settings for that job; later timeline changes are not a reason to assume the completed file reflects the newest edit.
Add Captured Revision to Queue retains a job snapshot. Queue controls include Run Queue, Pause After Current Job, and Reload Queue. A failed or interrupted job can offer Restart Captured Job or Restart to New Local File. Restart means render the captured job again; it is not a promise of continuing a partial movie at the last frame.
Keep Meridian active during an export. Long deliveries, heat, battery constraints, backgrounding, and storage exhaustion can affect completion; the interface does not promise unlimited background rendering.
Retrieve completed files
Under Completed movie, use Share Movie, Save to Files, or Save to Photos. Files output is also available in On My iPhone/iPad → Meridian → Exports when written through the app’s local output route. Save to Files can hand off the completed movie and its associated caption files. Photos stores the movie; keep sidecar subtitles separately.
Saving to Photos requires the relevant system permission and a format Photos accepts. A Photos handoff failure does not mean the completed local export was lost: use Files or Share to retrieve it. Queued completed jobs offer Save Completed Output to Files.
Check before delivery
Open the completed file outside Meridian. Review start/end, frame size, sound, title edges, captions, and a challenging motion interval. A successful progress bar establishes that a job completed; your viewing check establishes that it is the deliverable you intended. Keep a project backup for revisions.
