Work on the correct track
Open Edit Captions and confirm the selected caption track and language. If the project has several language variants, a text correction on one track does not stand in for reviewing all of them.
Play the relevant sequence interval, then correct the cue’s wording and start/end times. Avoid letting a cue cover the start of an unrelated scene or speaker when a clean boundary is available.
Improve readability
Break long phrases at natural language boundaries. Keep short connecting words with the phrase they belong to when possible. Recheck very brief cues and awkward overlaps reported by caption diagnostics.
For word-by-word styles, compare highlighted words with the actual speech. A correct phrase-level interval can still contain incorrect individual word timings.
Preserve the intended duration
Caption edits should support the film’s timing rather than accidentally extending the delivery with a stray late cue. Inspect the final caption against the end of the sequence.
Apply the reviewed changes and confirm the saved state. Preview the selected burn-in style or export a sidecar according to the intended destination.
