Make an independent version
Use the format-copy workflow when a landscape sequence also needs a portrait or square delivery. An alternate canvas is an editorial adaptation: important subjects and typography often need new positions.
Keep the original sequence and give the new one a descriptive name, such as “Film — portrait.” Check the current sequence before applying framing changes.
Review shot by shot
Inspect subject placement, motion near the frame edges, and any split-screen or picture-in-picture layouts. Auto-reframe can provide a starting point, but review its decisions through each full shot.
Revisit title line breaks and caption placement. Text that fits a landscape image can become too dense in portrait. Keep essential content away from areas likely to be covered by the destination’s controls.
Export the intended canvas
Check Deliver after adapting the sequence. A saved fixed output size may differ from the new canvas. Verify dimensions, caption behavior, and the actual encoded file before publishing.
Keep separate deliverables with clear file names so a landscape master is not accidentally replaced by a social crop.
