One edit, six workspaces
Media holds source items. Edit arranges the timeline. Color adjusts picture. Audio mixes sound. Titles adds text. Deliver creates output. Switching workspace keeps the same project and sequence.
On a narrow screen, use the Workspace menu to change tasks. Wider layouts show workspace buttons and more panes at once. Depending on screen width and text size, the editor shows one focused region, two panes, or three. Landscape on a phone can place the viewer beside the active workspace.
Project tools live under the name
Tap the project name to open Project Options. Use Save for the working project, Save a Copy for another project file, and Share Portable Project to collect an editable handoff with media. Sequences, Sequence Settings, and Versions manage edits inside the project.
Project Health explains save and media issues. Media Management handles source representations and relinking. Activity reports import and export work. These screens are the first places to look when a clip is missing or a job fails.
Check Source versus Sequence
Source previews the selected library item. Sequence previews the assembled timeline. Selecting a source and selecting a timeline clip are different actions. A playhead can also be in a different place from the selected clip.
Tap the displayed viewer time to open Go to Time. The field takes seconds; in Sequence context, One sequence frame provides frame stepping. Use the previous/next source-frame buttons for recorded source pictures. Read transport and marks before making exact range edits.
Expand Viewer gives the picture more room. Return to Editor restores the editing layout. On layouts with a supplementary pane, Choose supplementary pane switches between Media / Workspace Pane and Inspector Pane.
Discover the next action
When a clip is selected, the action bar offers Split, Trim, and Inspector. Without a clip selection it can show Marker and Captions. Tools opens named destinations including Clip Inspector, Precision Trim, Animation, Compositing, Commands, Project Health, and Activity.
Open Tools → Commands and search by name if an action is hard to find. An unavailable command displays its reason. A locked track, unsuitable clip type, unresolved draft, or missing source may prevent the edit.
Work comfortably
At accessibility text sizes, use Editor Region to choose a focused Viewer, Workspace, Timeline, or Actions region. Numeric value controls, the clip list, and keyboard commands offer alternatives to dragging. See accessibility and keyboard use and the iOS shortcut reference.
